Here at Velindre we receive many comments and feedback from grateful patients, their families, and from supporters and event participants. Here are just a few...

"I am writing to you, in the hope that you will pass on my comments and gratitude to all of your colleagues that I have come into contact with since my treatment began.  I have been attending Velindre Hospital after being diagnosed with cancer in February 2009. Since my treatment began, I have received care that can only be described as second to none. At all times, I have been treated with the utmost professionalism, dignity and respect. But above all, I have always been treated as a person and not 'simply a number' in a very busy hospital.  It would be wrong name individuals, but I would very much like to thank all of the Doctors and Nurses involved in my care, and all staff involved in the 'Bloods' Department and the Chemotherapy & Radiology Departments.  As you will understand this has been a traumatic time for both myself, and my family and continues to have a tremendous impact on all of our lives. However, with the help and support of all of your staff, we will continue to fight this terrible disease.  Thank you."  Anon

"What impressed me about Velindre was the efficiency of everyone I came into contact with, and the kindness of the nursing staff.  They all made me feel that I mattered as an individual and they instilled confidence in me as I went through my treatment.  It's a specialist hospital and I'm sure it's one of the nest in the country."  Mr John Webber, Porthcawl.

"My wife attended Velindre for radiotherapy between 28th April and 8th June.  I would like to thank everyone involved in this treatment.  The kindness and help we received during this time was fantstic.  As you are aware, this can be a very trying time when this treatment is happening.  From the time we entered the hospital until the time we left everybody was really ver good, considerate, helpful, efficient and most of all really kind.  It is really assuring that such a busy hospital can make a stressful period for us as bearable as they did."  Anon

During the past 6 months my husband and I have had a lot to do with the NHS and I feel I must write regarding our treatment.  Everyone writes to complain but not many write to praise.  However I have nothing but praise.  Last November my husband was diagnosed with stomach cancer and during he next few months he has numerous scans and other tests ending in chemotherapy and then an operation to recove his stomach.  During all this time, we were treated well by all the staff in every department and hospital.  They could not do enough for us and kept us informed through every procedure, making a difficult situation easier."  Anon

"With all the help I received, it gave me a more positive frame of mind towards the future. Thank you all!"  G Morgan, Merthyr Tydfil

"It is now 18 months since my wife passed away. The memory of the care and compassion shown to her and myself by all at Velindre is never forgotten. It certainly holds out hope for the future patients."  M Foley, Cardiff

"First class could not be better! Many thanks to you all!"  B Ingram, Vale of Glamorgan

"I have nothing but admiration and gratitude for the excellent work that all the staff do and the kind and considerate way in which they do it."  A Rees, Brecon

"I was recently admitted to your wonderful hospital for treatment. I would like to show my appreciation to all the staff who looked after me. Nothing was too much trouble for them and their love and care made a very difficult stay easier to deal with."  Mr  H  J Berry, Gwent

"I'm struck by the professional care and attention from the minute we enter the car park to the minute we leave. Whilst not claiming to enjoy visits, our minds were put to rest by the care shown by all your staff. They strike the correct balance between professional and personal - all credit to them."  Mr G Swindenbank, Bedfordshire

"My treatment started and I had two nurses to hand day and night and nothing was too much trouble. I would award the staff of all departments 100/100!"
Mr D L Powell, Gwent

"May I, on behalf of my wife and I, thank you, your staff and all the persons with who we came into contact with during my treatment at Velindre. It was of the highest standard given with wonderful efficiency, empathy, sympathy and great care. Everyone seemed to have the gift of making you feel that you are the only one that mattered even though the hospital was always full."  Dr A Bater, Vale of Glamorgan

"In no other hospital throughout the world could I have found a more dedicated and caring team of medical and nursing staff who cared for my son in his last days. I will be forever grateful."  G P Walsh, Cardiff
